Do you know if your child can carry their favorite toy or blanket through airport security without it being taken away? The answer is, yes! During our Membership Luncheon last week, we welcomed Mr. Steve Crawford, Director of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of Oklahoma as our keynote speaker. He spoke about the TSA Cares program and other work that is being done here in Oklahoma to keep everyone safe throughout their travels. Mr. Crawford explained the 22 layers of security and answered questions from attendees concerning safety measures and compliance details. As of right now, Oklahoma driver’s licenses are acceptable as ID to fly until January 22, 2018. In March 2017, legislation was passed to make Oklahoma driver’s license compliant with the REAL ID Act. The state has filed for, and is awaiting an extension from the Department of Homeland Security, that would give the state time to implement those compliance methods. If the state does not receive this extension by January 22, 2018, then Oklahomans will be required to have a different form of ID that complies with the REAL ID Act. The South Oklahoma City Chamber is grateful for the opportunity to provide our members with knowledge beyond the office and dig into community concerns. Thank you Mr. Steve Crawford, and Presenting Sponsor Moore Norman Technology Center, as we help our community grow!
